When Brian first started, and for many years after

When Brian first started, and for many years after, he not only hand-wove every seat and back himself, but he also went deep into the woods to harvest the Hickory Bark. He harvested over 25 linear miles of bark within his first 15 years. You can view a small snippet of that laborious task on @boggsbench. While these chairs are now retired from our hands, we love spotting them out in the wild and seeing other craftsmen continuing the Boggs legacy.

We are excited to announce that our Lily Desk will be a finalist at the 2023 ISFD Pinnacle Awards @isfd_ig. The desk pictured here is made from sustainably sourced Honduran Mahogany. We feel as if the black supporting curve helps elevate the design through color contrast. While this curve is beautiful in itself, it really helps to draw the eyes to the cantilevered Mahogany top. The Lily Desk is offered in several wood species and finishes, curly maple and walnut has been a popular combo lately! Stay tuned, the finalists will be announced next month.

It was the last Friday night in August after all the craftsmen had started their weekend. Oliver, Megan, Melanie, and I stayed late - ready to capture a video production showing off our new desk, “The Oconee Executive Workstation.” I wasn’t doing real work on this desk, but the owner certainly will for years to come. It is on its way to California to meet its Boggs siblings. P.S. Did you spot our dog Blue? The Grand Lily Chair is inspired heavily by natural forms - flower petals, stalks and stamens, all lend their design expertise to the viewer who is willing to appreciate it. We have taken these natural design elements and transferred them to a natural material. Curly Maple and Walnut wood support the client by connecting them with an organic form.
